Get StartedCal.com was built to simplify meeting scheduling. We wanted to remove the back-and-forth out of appointment coordination, so that people could spend less time figuring out the when, where, and how, and more time focusing on the really important things.
We knew that for our product to achieve its goals, it had to be customizable. We also knew that there needed to be different methods of customization. With this in mind, we took time to build a product that's developer-friendly, no-code-friendly, and supports the gradual acquisition of new skills.
What do we mean by this? Well, as you know, Cal.com is an open startup. This means that we're transparent, provide extensive documentation, and encourage our community to participate in the development of future features. We know that many people who are using our product might not necessarily be coders, or might be working their way through the process of acquiring code-based skills. That's why we've built a product that meets people where they are.
One of the ways in Cal.com empowers users is by ensuring that all account types have access to API keys. Cal.com's API keys are a powerful feature that lets people customize and add enhancements to their Cal.com account in ways that just wouldn't be feasible with other products. You can use the API key in combination with other services or apps like in order to build unique automated workflows designed around your goals and needs.
We know that sometimes starting the process of using API keys can be a little bit intimidating. That's why we've included this short tutorial to help you find your API keys, and some suggestions for apps in our App Store that work well with them.
Log into your Cal.com account.
Click on the drop-down menu beside your name.
Click on the "My Settings" label.
Scroll down to the Developer section and click on "API keys."
In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click the button marked "+ Add."
Name your API key and set its expiry date.
Click the "Save" button.
Once an API key is generated, immediately copy the key as you won't be able to see this code again later.
If you misplace this code, you can delete the API key or create a new one. There's no limit to the number of active API keys you can have.
You can always return to this area of your account to review your active API keys.
Three apps in our App Store work exceptionally well with Cal.com's API keys:
Make: Simplifies the creation of tasks and workflows via a simple drag-and-drop, what-you-see-is-what-you-get platform.
Auto Check-In: A tool to auto-schedule randomized recurring meetings, taking some of the back-and-forth out of creating recurring appointments.
Pipedream: Connects APIs quickly, simplifies authentication, and provides code-level control when needed, while also supporting a no-code approach.
We hope this quick overview of Cal.com's API keys and their benefits has provided you with useful information. Embrace the power of customization with Cal.com and as always happy scheduling.
