Get StartedAs a calendar scheduling product, Cal.com is focused on ensuring that users always have access to the tools they need to save time. As part of making this goal into a reality, the product offers a wide variety of modular integrations that can be controlled via account and event-level settings. This means that users can create custom events, availability schedules, and workflows designed around their scheduling reality. In addition, Cal.com also has a dynamic app store that simplifies the process of adding third-party integrations like Zoho Calendar, Stripe, and Google Analytics.
One of the main differences between Cal.com and other calendar scheduling products is its community. At its heart, Cal.com is an open-source project. This means that we're committed to transparency and geared for rapid, iterative growth. None of this innovation would be possible without Cal.com's open-source community and the unique contributions and insights they provide.
Cal.com knows that while a wide percentage of our community is made up of programmers and developers, there are also a growing number of users who prefer no- and low-code solutions. These professionals influence our product through the conversations and anecdotes that they share with us, not only on social media platforms like X/Twitter or LinkedIn but also within our Discord.
This type of constructive feedback is invaluable. It leads to new ideas, approaches, and features, one of which we'd love to share with you today.
Cal.com's out-of-office feature has been designed so users can simply adjust their availability using their account-level settings. This feature is especially useful for teams and organizations as it reduces the burden placed on administrators. It works by letting individuals add their pre-approved days off efficiently with just a couple of clicks. Users can find the controls for this feature in the settings area of their Cal.com account.
If you don't spend much time tinkering with these settings, don't worry. We've got a short and simple tutorial that will help you find the exact tab you need to access to get the ball rolling.
Log into your account.
Select the drop-down arrow next to your username.
Click on the cog labeled "My Settings."
Scroll down to "Out-of-Office" and click on it.
Click the [+ add] button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Choose the dates when you'll be out of the office.
Select a reason from the drop-down menu.
If you want you can add a note in the field below the drop-down menu.
Finally, click the "Create" button.
As you can see, using the out-of-office feature is quick and painless. You can easily preschedule all your out-of-office dates ahead of time so you don't have to worry about any wires getting crossed.
You might have also noticed when adding an out-of-office date that there's an extra special feature for subscribers with Team and Organization plans. This feature lets you generate a link that will redirect prospective bookers to other team members who are available while your out-of-office.
Cal.com’s out-of-office feature is one of many tools our users can access to help save time so they can focus on what really matters. If you liked this post and are enjoying all our new features, give us a shout-out on social media to let us know, and as always, happy scheduling!
